Pediatric Epileptologist

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seeks a Pediatric Epileptologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice child neurology with a special emphasis in pediatric epileptology. Clinical duties will include outpatient clinic, inpatient consults, and staffing the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Professional reads of both local and outreach EEGs are anticipated, as is participation in our growing surgical epilepsy program. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students and residents.
Qualifications: applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must be board certified / eligible in Child Neurology and Epilepsy. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

WVU Medicine maintains a Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. The Epilepsy Center includes hardwired video-EEG monitoring units for both adults and pediatrics. The facility also features neuroimaging support including spectroscopic MRI and quantitative PET scans.

WVU Medicine Children's is the premier site within the state for primary through tertiary care of children. The department has close working relationships with colleagues in the pediatric surgical subspecialties, pediatric neuropsychology, and neuroradiology. The department is committed to providing excellent clinical care to the children of West Virginia, a collegial academic environment that fosters professional growth, and high quality teaching to our students and house staff.

The Division of Pediatric Neurology joins in the collaborative efforts of the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, which is made of up a team of 280 dedicated faculty in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, in providing compassionate patient care and advanced medicine through education, research, and outreach in the many diverse communities we serve. The Institute spearheads efforts to develop innovative solutions for neurological and psychiatric conditions across the lifespan.

Our 150-bed Children's Hospital opened in September 2022 and has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff, and the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Birthing Center includes a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
