The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh has an exciting opportunity for the Summer of 2024!

The Food + Beverage Operations Internship program offers the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and first-hand practical experience in many aspects of hotel and food + beverage operations. This opportunity will provide exposure to multiple departments while developing relationships with leaders and employees in the field.

The F+B Operations Internship is a paid position and will last approximately 12 weeks. The program will provide rotations in some/all of the following departments: Food + Beverage, Sales + Catering, Engineering, Accounting, and People + Culture.

Within F+B, you will have exposure to The Commoner, The Biergarten, In Room Dining and Banquets.

What You'll Do
  • Rotate through the functional areas of the property to gain an understanding of how each department contributes to the success of the hotel and restaurant.
  • Develop skills and leadership under the guidance of the departmental leaders through hands-on work and shadowing.
  • Assist guests when needed.
  • Learn the operational workings of each department by observation of team members, participation in meetings, asking questions, and special departmental projects.
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of services and processes.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures of each department in a satisfactory manner.
  • Assist each department head with assigned operational functions and help with strategic plan for the department.
  • Completing tasks by utilizing and learning systems, tools, equipment, and software that apply.

What You Bring

  • Experience in hospitality, service, or customer-facing role with some leadership experience is preferred.
  • Able to work on rotating shifts (including overnight) and be flexible in terms of schedule.
  • Excellent attention to detail and are a self starter.
  • Excellent communication skills, are eager to learn and grow, have a can-do attitude, and have an affinity for hospitality.
