Position Overview

Seeking a Summer 2024 Utility Designer Intern to join our fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team of professionals! The internship offers competitive pay, full-time hours, group and independent working environments, end-of-internship capstone presentations, and experience in a high-demand industry! The Utility Designer Intern will assist our Engineering team in impacting client experience and team process improvements. The ability to adapt, critically think, and build strong relationships with the operations team is essential to the success of this role. Key areas of focus include drafting, implementing electrical safety regulations, and civil infrastructural engineering.

Job Duties
  • Perform data-centric functions, including data analysis, data entry, reporting, and metrics tracking.

  • Attend internal team meetings to collaborate on internal and Client direction.

  • Attend Client meetings as appropriate.

  • Review MRE data collection and engineering design process documentation including the National Electric Safety Code.

  • Collaborate with other engineering designers to:

  • Work through existing design challenges based on the specific criteria presented by any given utility structure or set of structures.

  • Improve existing make-ready engineering processes.

  • Analyze and verify power distribution maps and field data

  • Complete a multidisciplinary internship project that is yet to be determined.

Qualifications
  • Basic-intermediate understanding of structural, civil, and electrical engineering principles.

  • Working towards a 4-year degree, preferably in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.

  • Comfortability with mathematics, computer science, finance, or similar quantitative disciplines
  • Ability to present analysis to a group audience in person and via webinar
  • Passion for collaborating with and influencing others to drive process change
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be physically onsite in the Pittsburgh, PAoffice
  • Working toward a 4-year engineering degree
Additional Information

Asuccessful candidate will work with multiple groups of people, including operations management, accounting, business operations, and service line leadership. The role will be on-site in Pittsburgh, PA. This position may take many forms as the role is developed and will require a motivated self-starter who can identify key tasks and items necessary for operational success. The ability to work in teams is critical to success in this role.
