Job Description

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Director, Government Relations, this position will execute the grassroots strategy of FHLBank Pittsburgh. This position will work within the Bank's region to bridge the gap between lawmakers and local industry stakeholders with a focus on public events. The position develops local coalitions that support the Bank's legislative and public policy initiatives.

Primary Success Factors

Grassroots Engagement

  • Assist in the development and execution of grassroots advocacy campaigns to organize member institutions, stakeholders, and housing leaders in alignment with system and Bank policy positions.

  • Create high impact public events that take into consideration policy positions of stakeholders. Coordinate all aspects of event production, including vendor selection, ongoing communication with speakers and attendees, invitations, tracking RSVPs, day-of-event management, and press.

  • Build and maintain the Bank's existing Public Policy Network (PPN) with stakeholders from financial services, insurance, housing, economic and community development organizations.

Advocacy Outreach and Coalition Building

  • Foster and develop relationships with local advocacy trade groups, public affairs, and government relations professionals from member-institutions and community groups primarily in the housing or economic development sector.

  • Communicate the Bank's goals and positions effectively to external stakeholders.

  • Attend meetings and represent the Bank's interests within the broader advocacy community.

Required Experience

  • Five years minimum in a legislative, policy, or government affairs operation or campaign.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • Experience in a U.S. House or Senate office is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with local media, including drafting press releases and as point of contact for events is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in financial sector or community development a plus.
