Kidney Transplant Surgeon

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery is recruiting for a new kidney transplant surgeon for its kidney transplant service to meet the needs of patients in West Virginia and the region (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The candidate for this exciting opportunity will be expected to help grow our existing kidney transplant program and practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The kidney transplant surgeon will have teaching responsibilities to include general surgery, urology residents and medical students, as well as nurses and other clinical personnel in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Therefore, the surgeon must display superior communication and interpersonal skills. This faculty member will have research opportunities in both clinical and translational research. The physician will demonstrate high standards of practice through the development of transplant policies, protocols, and practice guidelines while participating in QAPI initiatives. In addition to transplant responsibilities, the surgeon will be expected to practice and support the overall department of surgery and/or urology clinical practice needs on a regular basis.

Qualifications: Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must have completed general surgery or urology residency and transplant surgery fellowship from an American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) accredited program. The transplant surgeon must be UNOS-certified or eligible as a Primary Surgeon and must meet OPTN requirements.
