Position Summary: Reporting to the Head of Absence Claims, this position will lead multiple managers and team members responsible for delivering and enhancing on the claims operational model that fulfills the NYL GBS Absence promise to clients and customers. The Absence Claims Corporate Vice President must exhibit strong leadership skills, such as the ability to lead and empower others on their team and partner across the organization to effectively execute.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for directly leading a team of managers and indirectly leading a team of 50-100 employees within the Absence claims organization including execution of Short-Term Disability, unpaid/paid leaves (FML, Statutory Leaves, Company Leaves, etc), and ADA.
  • Creates a culture of service excellence within team focused on driving strong experiences; engages and empowers team members to deliver on this vision recognizing wins while quickly resolving the opportunities.
  • Accountable for the claims metrics and experience tied to dedicated book of clients and customers; willingness and ability to actively participates on client calls as needed.
  • Monitors team's progress via dashboards; takes swift action if team is "off course."
  • Owns the resolution of key issues impacting team and/or customer claims; partners with matrix partners for timely solutioning and short-term options.
  • Partners with peers to drive consistent practices across the Absence Claims team and collaborates to achieve team goals.
  • Provides insights on improvements to resources and enhancements to processes and technology based on client/customer feedback.
  • Drives change effectively, ensuring ongoing communication with direct team; ensures team is aware and prepared to execute as new processes, technology or clients are implemented.
  • Leads, mentors, and coaches team of direct and indirect team members; develops talent succession plans and builds bench strength of talent within team to support business and team member goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience in a leadership role within Absence/STD claims or equivalent.
  • Proven success leading operational teams that execute to goals, drive a strong employee claims experience, and a customer-centric claims team culture.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills; ability to test and learn to meet client and customer needs.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to be onsite for team activities, meetings or other events and willingness to travel as needed based on business need.

Salary range:$90,000-$145,000

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes
