Finance Manager - Reuters Technology - Decision Support and Insights Group

DSIG is responsible for financial reporting, financial processes, and analytics, supporting all the segments of Thomson Reuters across the different functions. We drive business partnership, standardization, and automations across the groups - leveraging latest technology to drive efficiencies and ensuring best practice sharing across the business, for higher effectiveness.In addition, this team drives informational analysis and reporting to support Business decisions and strategies. This role supports the Reuters News business and specifically the Reuters Technology business.

About the Role
In this opportunity as Finance Manager - Reuters Technology, you will:

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of monthly results in matrix format (by project, by business unit).
  • Ensure timely preparation of Management review decks and follow through on the decisions taken.
  • Drive monthly discussion of results with Global Senior Leadership.
  • Convert business strategy into actionable financial planning.
  • Drive all Planning processes - Forecasts, Annual Operating Plans and Strategic Planning -- and ensure that all operational/business decisions/events are properly reflected in financial metrics.
  • Generate and disseminate actionable business insights to help accomplish management objectives, understanding the interaction of OPEX and CAPEX budget and the implications of decisions on both areas.
  • Working closely with Segment and Finance leaders to build Annual plan and forecasts.
  • Standardize and simplify reporting.
  • Provide end-to-end Business partnership to help segments drive strategic initiatives.


About You
You're a fit for the role of Finance Manager - Reuters Technology if your background includes:

  • Desired MBA, CFA Qualifications or Qualified by experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate finance/analytics.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Self-starter, pro-active and independent worker.
  • Significant experience business partnering with global senior leadership.
  • Thorough understanding of CAPEX and OPEX interaction and budget implications - including people capitalization and capitalization rates.
  • Significant experience in project management accounting.
  • Significant experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and reviewing the bigger picture.
  • Careful planning to achieve accurate and timely results.
  • Interest in Technology.
  • Eye for Detail .
  • Ability to work with Global Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated / Result oriented / Open to learning new technologies.
  • Interpersonal Skill to Guide and Motivate team members.
  • Good Knowledge of MS office- Excel, Power Point.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Financial Planning Tools - e.g., Hyperion, OneStream (desirable).
  • Knowledge of automation and visualization tools - VBA/Python/PowerBI/Tableau (desirable).


Desirable Experience

  • Significant experience supporting a technology division from a finance point of view, handling budgets and projects from both an OPEX and CAPEX perspective.
  • Significant experience in matrix project management reporting, ability to work through implications of strategic decisions from both an OPEX and CAPEX perspective.
  • Significant experience business partnering with senior Global Leadership.
  • Pro-active mindset seeking out information, solutions and implementing these in a timely manner.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following metro locations: Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $112,400 - $208,800. The base compensation range in other locations may vary. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
