The R&D Master Pattern Maker develops, cuts, and upholsters accurate fabric and leather patterns, foam parts, and upholstery notes from technical drawings and documentation provided by engineering, design, and/or manufacturing teams. This role requires collaboration with corporate merchandising and design personnel, vendors, sewing leads, and upholstery manufacturing teams in multiple capacities. Candidate must have knowledge and experience in upholstery, pattern creation, cut and sew procedures, AutoCAD, and creation and maintenance of detailed electronic build specifications in various Microsoft products.

1. Review designer drawings with engineering team to provide upfront upholstery and build feedback and opportunities before, during, and after frame engineering and build process.
2. Create electronic digitized AutoCAD patterns for all new foam parts needed based on frame design and comfort directives from Merchandising, Design, and/or R&D Manager.
3. Create complete electronic digitized AutoCAD patterns for all new upholstery cover parts for fabric and leather patterns for input into automated cutting systems. Must understand fabric matching standards and placement of match points (fabric) and zones (leather) on patterns.
4. Support and provide detailed information and feedback to sewing lead regarding sewing procedure(s) and specifications needed for all new upholstery products.
5. Upholster new design samples to proof all pattern and poly parts, matching, upholstery notes, and provide feedback and solutions to engineers, designers, and managers before manufacturing release.
6. Train upholsters to build new models and/or styles to approved specifications. May perform other duties, including special or non-routine assignments as instructed.

*Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required or equivalent job experience of five to ten years of high-end upholstery pattern making in an R&D setting.
